The Informant Starring Matt Damon is based on a true story about whistleblower Mark Whitacre’s involvement in the lysine business at Illinois based corporation ADM.
It is a dark comedy come drama with an interesting plot, comical soundtrack and is overall a fairly good watch.
Mark Whitacre is seen as a family man living the “American Dream” with wife Ginger and has kids. As the VP of the company ADM. He has a good salary, and seems as though nothing could wrong with his life. That is until he decides to reveal all to FBI about price fixing between his company and others in the Lysine business.
You know from the start the character of Mark is what can only be discribed as a scatter brain and this leads to some interesting developements along the way.
I’m not going to reveal the story to you, I will simply suggest you rent this one (don’t buy it, one watch is probably enough, I’ve seen it 3 times myself but that was only because I wanted to pull more points out for this review)
The soundtrack to the movie gives you a smile throughout, the story is interesting and there is some laughs along the way.
It is what I can only describe as the film alternative to “easy listening”
Overall I would give it a 6/7 out of 10. And say to you Rent it.
